The photovoltaic panels thanks to ELPS Canadian Solar reach a new level of "efficiency" energy that now almost 20 percent. A great result that, as the CEO Shawn Qu is designed "with a view to reducing production costs per watt."
The "problem" of photovoltaics has always been that of '"energy efficiency" or, simply, as a percentage, the energy "forfeit" in the solar panel "to" electricity. Until a few years ago this was the Achilles heel of the industry: the energy efficiency of the photovoltaic panels was very low and only in recent years came to an average of 15 percent, providing a cost-benefit cost. But the search goes on, and Canadian Solar, for example, one of the leading companies worldwide to operate in the solar energy market, has a new solar module with cells reaching a 19.5% energy efficiency.
The technology that allows this great technological step is the owner of the company and is called ELPS (Efficient, Long-Term Solution Photovoltaic). A dream until recently. For this Canadian Solar, in a sense, brings the energy efficiency "to the stars", and especially a star, our Sun, which promises free and inexhaustible energy at low cost. The new technology will be presented at the EU PVSEC 2011, the industry event that takes place in Hamburg from September 5 to 8.
This is not a prototype but a "preview" of the sale which will begin in the fourth quarter of 2011. The new solar panel technology is based on architecture-Metal-Wrap Through (MWT), which consists, as the company explains in a "moving front in the back electrode. The variation of the electrical connections favors a greater exposure of front surface to sunlight, resulting in increased levels of efficiency.
Shawn Qu, Chairman and CEO of Canadian Solar claims satisfied: "These modules provide our customers with a value much higher due to the significant increase in conversion efficiency and energy production provided. In addition, we worked with a view to reducing costs production per watt". The new solar modules will be available in two versions, mono and polycrystalline, with an output up to 265 watts.
