A group of scientists and researchers in the Basque Country, Spain, have developed a new system that combines solar greenhouses that be able to get the crops receive optimal conditions.
The new technology was developed in conjunction with Agricultural ULMA Tecnalia. The scientists have proved the greenhouse of tomatoes and peppers in Vizcaya, while controlling the humidity, radiation and temperature.
The results were positive, food production in this test exceeded conventional greenhouses and solar panels fixed inclination.
The new system uses lenses to direct sunlight in winter. The system allows maximum input of sunlight in the summer, when radiation is very intense. The system redirects the light to solar panels that generate electricity for cooling and prevent overheating of the greenhouses.
All tests were positive and the final results will be announced in March, finished look to an intention to market in late 2012.
