Smallest Organic Solar Cell Bring Closer to SolarWindow Technology
Application of technology to make SolarWindow closer to be realized with the discovery of the smallest organic solar cells developed by Dr. Xiaomei Jiang, a researcher from the University of South Florida. Revolutionary solar cells will use both natural and artificial light sources to be converted into electrical energy.
The translucent glass can be coated with a coating SolarWindow at room temperature using a commercially available technologies. Currently, the constraints to make translucent SolarWindow hindered by an unclear solar panel if plated on the translucent windows. This happens because the use of metals and various expensive processes that impede visibility and prevent light from passing through the glass surface. The smallest organic solar cells will be able to remove this constraint.
Mr. Meetesh V. Patel, President and CEO of New Energy Technologies Inc, has stated that this is the first time the progress of ongoing research gives the opportunity to develop an early-scale working prototype and hopes to soon be able to launch it. Technology will be applied at home, office and commercial buildings.
